Today we return to the Swarovski Crystal Museum in Wattens for Day 6 of this 7 day Instagram challenge.  I like the lit up bulbs provide a path for the eye to travel on in the image.  Make sure you come back for tomorrow's image.  It's pretty cool.

Let me know if you've been enjoying the images here in this 7 day black and white challenge in the comments below.  Thanks.

Day 5 of the 7 day black and white, no people, no explanation challenge takes us back to Bangkok, and this photo of a flame which people can light their spiritual candles and offer prayer.  I think this is one of those images that can help the photographer tell a story about what, where and why they're shooting the images they are.  People were lined up to light their candles.  It's beautiful.  It tells a story.

Today we go back to Ljubljana, Slovenia for Day 3 of my Black and White Instagram challenge.  Seven days, seven black and white photos of my life.  No explanation required, but I'll say the gate doesn't represent anything.  Just really appreciated the beauty in the intricate shadows on the sidewalk.  Harsh mid day lighting will do that.

Pattaya, Thailand

My first trip to Thailand in 2006 also included a stop at the Sanctuary of Truth temple in the beach side town of Pattaya.  I had been a camera owner for like three days then, and the photographs I made proved it.  So I was bound and determined this time to make a really cool photograph of this amazing temple, which is somehow still under construction (I'll post some detail shots at some point too).

I did mess up one thing with this image though.  I had just come from inside, which is quite dark.  I had set a higher ISO to accommodate the inside, and forgot to set it back down to ISO 100 for this shot.  It's why there's so much noise.  That's okay though.

Special thanks to Trey Ratcliff at for creating this preset, which was provided free when I bought Aurora HDR 2017.  I only made some minor tweaks from the preset settings.
